Investigative journalist Ike Graham (Richard Gere) write's a scathing article about the antic's of Maryland local, Maggie Carpenter (Julia Roberts) who has the notorious reputation of leaving every man she is due to wed at the alter. However, when Maggie threaten's the publisher, Ike is fired and goes about proving the truth behind Maggie Carpenter as she is due to get married for the fourth time.
